"Celebrating Resilient Landscapes and Adaptive Communities"

The California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) will continue the tradition of bringing together the conservation community from around the state at the 73rd Annual CARCD Conference. This year's theme is "Celebrating Resilient Landscapes and Adaptive Communities" and the conference will be held from November 14-17, 2018 in San Diego, California.

California’s landscapes are evolving at a record pace. Change creates new challenges that our natural and social systems are endeavoring to keep pace with. In order to create a resilient California for both natural and human communities we have to thoughtfully design policies, programs, management, and systems. This requires proactive, substantive, and diverse inclusive partnerships, funding, knowledge exchange, and strategies.

This year in San Diego, we will dive into strategies, ideas, and on-the-ground action that is succeeding at creating the adaptable communities and resilient landscapes we need to address our collective future. We will strategize with our partners and community, inspire new thoughts, and provide practical tools to implement solutions and systems at scale for addressing our evolving world.

Conference Overview

Featuring four days of trainings, breakout sessions, panels, and networking opportunities, the Annual CARCD Conference is a highly anticipated event that brings together conservation practitioners, scientists, private landowners and land managers, legislators, non-profits, and State and Federal agency representatives. This year in San Diego, participants will explore and celebrate the strategies, programs, and partnerships that are helping to cultivate thriving landscapes and adaptable communities throughout California.

With an expected attendance of over 250 natural resource and conservation professionals, this will be a unique opportunity to build new and strengthen existing partnerships, become acquainted with locally-driven conservation programs throughout the state, and explore opportunities for innovation through the cross-pollination of ideas. Seventy speakers in 25 breakout sessions will impart critical information and practical tools that will empower participants to implement conservation and natural resource management solutions for adapting to our changing world.

Sponsors

If you believe in voluntary, locally-led, conservation, then supporting RCDs through sponsoring CARCD’s Annual Conference is powerful way to build our movement towards solutions for conservation and agriculture in California. This gathering of community is our keystone event for RCDs, partners, and supporters to share success stories, collaborate on multi jurisdiction projects, learn new methods, and interact with our stakeholders.
