Building the Board You Need

The needs and roles of RCDs are evolving, and so are the boards of directors. Boards benefit from thinking through their needs and making specific plans for how to recruit, orient, and train new board members.

Learning objectives for this Track 1 session:

• Understand the components of board development and recruitment.
• Learn about best practices for recruiting and orienting board members.
• Exchange ideas with other RCDs for building a great board.

Information about Wednesday's Free Day of Training for RCDs

Wednesday is CARCD's free day of training for RCD staff and directors. There are two tracks to choose from and we request that you commit to the one that best suits your interests.

Track 1 sessions are focused on skills development for RCD directors. RCD staff are also welcome to participate.

District Managers are encouraged to attend Track 2 sessions. Afternoon sessions for the second track will be offsite at the State Capitol in downtown Sacramento.

There are two ways to sign up for the free training sessions:

1. Sign up when you register for the conference, or
2. If you have already registered for the conference, fill out this separate Wednesday Special Events form
