Great Sierra River Clean-Up
Saturday, September 16, 2017, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT
Category: RCD Events

East Merced RCD is joining The Great Sierra River Cleanup. It is the premier volunteer event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of waterways throughout the Sierra Nevada Region. This cleanup is an annual event coordinated by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy and held in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup Day.

Join us on Saturday, September 16, 2017

We need individuals and groups to help us.  Last year we removed over 10 cubic yards of trash and debris from our river on September 17th but there is more work to do.  We can work with your group to plan a day of service.  You can clean up on shore or on the water in canoes and kayaks.  We will supply everything your need.

We want to accomplish this work as soon as possible before increased river flows move the trash downriver.

On Shore Sites:

  • Schaeffer Bridge

  • Sante Fe Trestle

  • McConnell State Park

On the Water Cleanups in Kayaks & Canoes:

  • Schaeffer Bridge to Sante Fe Trestle
  • Sante Fe Trestle to McConnell State Park
