Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program - Listening Sessions: Advancing Racial Equity

April 20 & 28

The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) and the Department of Conservation (DOC) are hosting a series of online listening sessions to gather feedback and ideas from the public regarding the equity components of the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program (SALC).

The workshops are conversational by design and will focus on gathering input for meaningful opportunities to address racial inequities regarding access to, tenure on, and ownership of agricultural land in the State.

Examples of project types that could help address these inequities can include, but are not limited to:

· Projects that include long term leases to socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.

· Projects that utilize a conservation easement to assist a socially disadvantaged farmer or rancher in purchasing agricultural land.

· Projects that support California Native American tribes’ co-management of –and access to–working lands and Indigenous cultural resources within those lands.

· Projects that support farm incubators or other new onsite farmer training programs.

Please join us for these important conversations and invite others who might be interested. To learn more and contribute to the discussion, please join us for one or both of the following workshops:
