About HCRCD

The Humboldt County RCD, initially founded as the Eel River RCD in 1987, was established by local landowners to help address the hydrologic dysfunction of Salt River, in part building partnerships with state and federal agencies able to provide assistance to develop long-term solutions.

Presenters Bios

Jonathan Shultz is Humboldt County District Conservationist with USDA-NRCS. A life-long resident of Humboldt County, Jon has worked for NRCS since 2009, and previously worked as a Project Coordinator with HCRCD from 2006 – 2009.

Michael Bowen is a Project Development Specialist with the State Coastal Conservancy, where he has worked for 15 years. He has proudly and enthusiastically worked with RCDs, including the HCRCD, since then, because they get great things done.

Jill Demers is the Executive Director of the Humboldt County Resource Conservation District. Jill joined the HCRCD in 2015, after previously serving as the Humboldt Bay Initiative Coordinator and as an Executive Director for a non-profit organization that supported the planning, implementation, and monitoring of habitat restoration projects.

Doreen Hansen is the Watershed Coordinator with Humboldt County Resource Conservation District. Doreen joined the HCRCD in 2011, and plays an integral role overseeing the Salt River Ecosystem Restoration Project monitoring program and supporting the landowner-based Salt River Watershed Council, a 501(c)3 that will ultimately assume responsibility for adaptive management for the Salt River Ecosystem Restoration Project.
